Son approche de la contrebasse, son goût pour le son, l’improvisation, lui ont permis de développer un jeu léger, mélodique et non pas uniquement rythmique. Il a travaillé ou composé pour différentes disciplines artistiques: la danse, le théâtre, le conte, la chanson, le ciné-concert et pratique l'improvisation musicale. Également clown-musicien depuis plusieurs années, il développe cette discipline à l'hôpital et sur scène. Il joue actuellement pour les Galettes de Riz (clown-musique), Haïkus Signés Dansés (danse, musique, langage des signes), Ti Pouce (conte et musique), Fantômas 1 et 2 (ciné-concert), un Air de Galop (duo équestre et musical), il est clown-musicien dans les hôpitaux de Barentin et Grugny et travaille avec les collectifs d'artistes : les Amis de Fantomus et le Safran Collectif. Parallèlement à son travail de création, Thierry Lachkar anime des stages et des ateliers théâtre. Depuis 2011, il dirige l'Atelier Théâtre Adulte du Safran Collectif et a mis en scène et adapté sept créations - Dans le Ventre de Murakami d'après Kafka sur le rivage en 2011, Le Voyage d'Hiver d'après Bergman en 2012, Bone d'après Georges Chesbro en 2013, Les Estivants rencontrent Les Possédés d’après Gorky et Dostoïevski en 2014, Dans le Ventre de Kurosawa d'après Kurosawa en 2015, Le Cercle Magique d'après Fellini, Lynch, Valentin en 2016, La Tempête d'après Shakespeare en 2017 - en réunissant les élèves avec des professionnels du spectacle (scénographes, comédiens et musiciens...). La plupart de ces spectacles sont des adaptations d’œuvres poétiques, de romans, d’essais ou de contes. La musique, le chant, la vidéo et le théâtre d’objets sont souvent intégrés au travail. Rêves enchanteurs et rêves désenchantés, quêtes initiatiques et transmissions sont les thématiques qui parcourent l’ensemble des créations.
